We’re only a couple of weeks into the new year, but our diary is already full of wonderful weddings for our 2017 brides and grooms! If you’re planning a wedding at the moment, take a look at our predictions for the top wedding trends for 2017 to get some inspiration.
In recent years, whimsical white, cream and pastel weddings have been a big trend. But for 2017, watch out for bright, colourful accents to make wedding decor fresh and fun. From rainbow hues to more subtle blush pink, navy or copper tones, colourful weddings are sure to be a big wedding trend for 2017.
Personalised Wedding Menus
Rather than sticking to a fairly standard wedding menu, brides and grooms in 2017 will move towards a more personalised menu featuring their own choice of dishes. The menu might feature dishes from across the world which reflect their family’s background, the place they met or got engaged or simply their favourite cuisine. Wedding menus in 2017 will be flavoursome, delicious and extra special as they are meaningful to the couple.
Garden-Inspired Wedding Bouquets
A big wedding trend for 2017 will be garden-inspired wedding bouquets and floral accents. Think lots of greenery, fresh foliage and mis-matched wildflowers. As well as traditional bouquets, you’ll also see lots of foliage-based wreaths and table runners at 2017 weddings.
Who doesn’t love a holiday?! Destination weddings are set to be very popular in 2017, with many brides and grooms choosing to have a small guestlist and whisking their family and friends off to a beautiful foreign destination. Places like Jamaica, the Bahamas and Costa Rica are always popular – but in 2017 look out for quirkier destinations like Iceland, Canada and Denmark too.
Feasting Wedding Menus
We love feasting wedding menus, so we’re really glad to see this will be a big wedding trend for 2017. Sharing platters, family-style dishes and multiple-course menus all help to create a delicious feasting wedding menu. All-day dining is also a big wedding trend for 2017 – think canapés on arrival, nibbles after the ceremony, a feasting main meal and then snacks and a dessert table in the evening.
Eclectic Wedding Decor
Rather than super-polished weddings with matching everything, in 2017 weddings will have a much more eclectic, bohemian theme. Expect mis-matched decor which mixes together modern and vintage elements, a relaxed vibe and non-traditional menu.
Food & Drink Pairings
Instead of offering a glass of fizz with your canapés, in 2017 there will be a trend for having food and drink pairings at your wedding. Think cheese with wine, craft beer with cake, margaritas with tacos or lychee cocktails with sushi. Talk to your caterer and drinks supplier to come up with a perfectly paired menu, all the way from canapés to the main meal.
Tall Tiered Wedding Cakes
Recently, many couples have opted for cupcakes, macarons, doughnuts or other sweet treats rather than a traditional wedding cake. But a big trend for 2017 is the return of the traditional tall tiered wedding cake. But don’t worry, they’re not too traditional – popular cake flavours include salted caramel, key lime and pink champagne, and decorations vary from naked cakes to metallic gold foil icing.
